Philip David Hill

Founder & Artistic Director

Philip David Hill is a choral conductor, composer, pianist, arranger, producer, and music educator whose work spans sacred music, concert performance, music instruction, composition, and studio production.

He studied piano with Portia S. Hawkins and Dr. Rosalyn W. Floyd and performance with Dr. Sharon J. Willis. He later studied piano performance and choral conducting at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and composition at Georgia State University, with additional private piano study under Richard Fields, Michael Certok, and Roslyn Soo Mauldin.

For more than three decades, Hill has served in music direction and choral leadership roles, including long-term service as Director of Music & Arts/Music Director at Victory for the World Church. His professional experience also includes appearing as a featured pianist with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and guest conducting in France, Greece, and Italy.

Hill is the founder of The Philip David Hill Singers, where he serves as resident composer and choral conductor. His creative work includes annual Black History piano and choral tributes, original compositions and arrangements, and extended-play releases including Lovely, Refuge, Refuge II, and Refuge III.

Through Lyfe Wyth Hymn, Hill brings together decades of experience in choral music, composition, performance, education, sacred music, and production to help preserve hymn traditions while creating new artistic expressions rooted in them.

Hill is also a published author. In 2025, he published the first installment in his Back To It children’s book series, extending his educational and creative work beyond music and into literature for young readers.
